Haitian Delegation Participates in Election Observation Exchange Mission to Guatemala
From June 13-17, a delegation from Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) participated in an election observation and exchange mission organized by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Guatemala around the country’s June 16 general elections. IFES will continue to leverage its partnerships with election management bodies in the region to empower the CEP with additional tools and knowledge to institutionalize and reform its electoral processes

On June 7, Francophone election administrators voted unanimously to create a Women’s Forum to bring together women in senior leadership positions in national election administration. New Executive Training Curriculum Builds the Resilience and Independence of Electoral Leaders
Over the past 18 months, IFES has been designing and pilot testing the IFES Executive Curriculum in Electoral Leadership (iEXCEL). iEXCEL develops skills to strengthen institutional independence, deliver elections within the context of a crisis, resist manipulation of elections by political actors and foster institutional resilience and capacity.

Bougainville Election Commission Launches Strategic Plan
Throughout 2018, IFES advisors guided the Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner in developing and writing its 2018-2022 Strategic Plan. The plan, launched in November, sets out a vision for OBEC to become an independent, competent and transparent electoral body that can organize inclusive, credible elections.

Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Tunisian Election Administration
On March 5, IFES and Tunisia’s High Independent Authority for Elections signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that seeks to consolidate the established cooperation between the two organizations. The MoU defines areas for IFES’ support and sets the framework for future cooperation.

Celebrating International Women’s Day 2019 in Papua New Guinea
IFES celebrated International Women’s Day 2019 with counterparts in Port Moresby and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. The Port Moresby-based Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission hosted a celebration and luncheon, and the IFES team in Bougainville joined local civil society organizations and other partners on a peace march through Buka Town.

Presentation of Armenian Parliamentary Mandates
IFES, the United Nations Development Programme and the Central Election Commission of Armenia organized a parliamentary mandate presentation ceremony. During the event, citizens handed over the mandates to members of Parliament (MPs) to represent the symbolic transfer of power from the people to the new MPs.
